Over the weekend, the company also announced that it will require passengers to provide proof of vaccination unless they are under 12 or an adult with certain medical conditions. This decision follows the Bahamas last week issuing an emergency order that bars cruise ships from entering its ports unless all passengers over the age of 12 have been vaccinated.
They said those guests were emailed guidelines ahead of time detailing the restrictions on-board and at the destinations. Cruise ships are often settings for disease outbreaks because of their closed environment and close contact between travelers from many countries, according to the CDC. An extensive list of preventative measures recommended by the agency to cruise ship operators includes minimizing the number of crew members sharing a cabin, eliminating in-person or group staff meetings and practicing social distancing. The positive cases were among 26 crew members and one passenger on the Carnival Vista, which is carrying over 1,400 crew and nearly 3,000 passengers, the board said in a statement.

The cruise line said that it was highly unlikely Ms. Tackett contracted the coronavirus aboard the ship, which left Galveston on July 31, and that she had received expert medical care onboard before being evacuated.
